8 Things Every Woman Should Own

Ladies, having the perfect wardrobe starts with the essentials. Owning these key pieces can help add more pizazz to your everyday look.

1. The Perfect Coat
Having the right coat can make fashion life so much easier. Throwing a fabulous coat on the most basic outfit can add a lot of style with the least amount of effort. It’s worth it to invest a little extra in a warm and stylish coat, after all, it’s the one thing you’ll be wearing everyday.

2. Leather or Suede Jacket
A leather or suede jacket is a perfect statement piece. You can throw this on top of any outfit and look like a rockstar instantly. The best part: You don’t have to put down $500+ for real leather or suede (unless you really want to). Go to your local Zara, Nordstroms, or Bloomingdales and you can grab a fabulous  faux jacket for under $100.

3. Booties
Boots are great, but booties are even better! Having a cute pair of booties to go with your leggings, dresses, skirts or jeans is essential to a chic yet effortless wardrobe. What I love the most about booties is that you can go flat without looking too casual. Gone are the days when your running shoes were your everyday comfort shoes.

4. Statement Scarf
I love throwing a printed scarf over all of my outfits. It instantly adds a luxurious feel to any look. Blanket scarves are a great substitute for a jacket on those milder days.

5. Well Fitted Jeans
Having a good pair of jeans is essential to any person’s wardrobe. Instead of buying cheap jeans and having to throw them out a couple times a year, opt for a more expensive pair that you only have to replace once in a while. J Brand, Joe’s, AGs, Paige, and Citizens of Humanity all are wonderful brands that will last you a while… and the softness of the denim will ‘wow’ you!

6. The Perfect Everyday Bag
Spend a little more on a purse you plan to use everyday. If you have your essential purse down, you can buy cheaper fun statement purses the rest of the year. The great thing about a luxurious purse is that it can dress up even the most simplest of outfits.  philip lim

7. Dressy T-Shirt
An easy way to look more polished is to ditch the basic cotton t-shirts and go for synthetic shirts. Synthetic shirts are great because you can hand or machine wash them and not worry about them shrinking in the dryer or the fabric looking old and stained.

8. Indoor jacket
If your sick of cardigans, opt for an indoor jacket instead. Having a cute indoor jacket is a great way to layer your look and add style to your outfit. My favorite indoor jackets are ‘moto’ style jackets with bigger collars.

5 Easy Looks for ‘Those’ Mornings…

Nothing is worse than not hearing your alarm, rushing your make-up job and the biggest dilemma… What am I going to wear!? Especially when your brain is half-functioning.. this can be the most daunting part of your morning…

Here’s a little inspiration from our favorite fashionistas that just might save you 30 mins of rummaging through your closet…

1. Black on Black + Colored Accessories

Layer up your black clothing and just through in some color with your accessories. The accent pieces can work with any color and makes any outfit look classic and fashionable.

2. White Dress Shirt + Necklace

Might be too cold for shorts.. but the easiest thing you can do is… a fresh white shirt + black bottoms (be it pants, skirt or shorts) and a necklace (try tucking your necklace into the collar of your shirt to try something different) and you’re done… Toss on a colored cardigan if you’re feeling cold. Classic!

3. Blazer on top of… everything

Your blazer is your best friend. Don’t have one? Get on it! This time-less piece goes great over anything. Keep it simple with Jeans, a t-shirt and boots or play up a summer dress with a blazer and tights.

4. Colored Pants

Colored Pants… Easiest thing to style up.. Best part is you can keep it simple at the top and still look glamorous!

5. Accent Scarf

Toss on a scarf… Love SJP’s leopard print scarf and Rachel Bilson’s mustard scarf.. easily jazzes up any outfit. You can do black on black like SJP or black pants and white t-shirt like Rachel… You’ll be out the door in 5 mins!

5 Things to Rock Before Spring Starts Calling

Yeah, I know… Winter… Blah! BUT, why not make the most of it by wearing super cute trends you can’t rock when the sun is shinning? Here are a couple things that are on my list to grab — especially now, since most winter items are on sale! Bring it on win-tah!

1. FUR VEST: You can toss this trendy piece on top of anything.. I love throwing mine on top of my blazer and pair it with some brown boots, dark wash jeans and some shades.

Revolve Clothing, $65

2. ABOVE KNEE BOOT: This trend hasn’t left my mind for years now. I got my above knee cuff boots a couple years ago and still rock them. Best part about the cuff, when I don’t feel like going above-knee, a simple fold does the trick.

3. OVERSIZED PONCHO: Can’t go wrong with an over-sized sweater or poncho… the best part? It goes all year long, especially if you live in SF.. Rock it with shorts, jeans, over a dress.. you name it.. you can do it..

4. TOOGLE BUTTON COAT: Toggle buttons are of on my favorite details that spruce up a boring winter coat. You can wear this coat day or night, over anything and most importantly all they way from fall to early spring. Plus, you could be wearing an oversized gym t-shirt under it while on your way to workout and you would still look fab.

5. HEAVY KNIT SCARF: Cutest and warmest way to play up any outfit — a knitted scarf. Rock it with jeans, boots and a t-shirt… voila! — you’re a fashionista waiting to shine. AND if you wear your hair in a Japanese hair bun and pair the look with a bright lipstick [see below], you’ll definitely get bonus points in my books!
